West
I've been listening to Lucinda William's new CD, West. I really like it. It's the honest, heart-aching music that I connected with years ago. I read reviews of her the album and I aggreed with this part...Listeners want the impression that an artist sings from experience, that she lives the life she sings about in her songs. Whether it's actually true or not is beside the point. There's no doubt that Lucinda Williams writes what she knows. I thought about my paintings and how that's how I've always wanted to paint. Then as I read the rest of the review it criticized her for being too personal and singing to herself and how she is shutting the listener out by being too personal. Huh...
