The Truth lured people into my booth at Art in the Park. This artwork in particual was a topic of many entertaining conversations. One lady told me that her daughter was a liar, then she laughed out loud. I'm glad it was funny! Originally I was asked to paint a painting about mothers lying to their children. My patron said, "we all do it!"
I personally like to think that some child is going to see this artwork in her home some day and remember, like Pinocchio, that lies get you into more trouble and are just not a good idea.
As the Blue Fairy said, " Now, remember, Pinocchio: be a good boy. And always let your conscience be your guide."
Prints available at Gallery 601.
