The project I worked on with Pat Debenham for the BYU Dance Department looked even better on stage that I expected. The Dance Company exceeded my expectations.
The flowers were used on stage in the last dance section along with an mega-image of them projected on a screen behind the dancers.
All of the elements working together (movement, music, costume and the set) pushed it from being just a show to being a complex artwork. It felt a little Laurie Anderson at times. The dancers performed along with BYU's Percussion Ensemble. Ron Bruff (the ensemble director) is amazing. I did however have an idea. Branden Steineckert.
At one point in the concert, there were four drummers and some guys in school boy uniforms on stage and this image popped into my mind. I though of Brandon wailing on his drums right in the middle of the stage. I almost laughed outloud at the thought, he's totally amazing and it would be rich! Maybe it would be too good.
