This morning as I went through my day's plan, I emotionally prepared myself for not painting because of the holiday. I was ready to roll with whatever. Whatever turned into several hours of painting time. I got to work on this little painting that I'd sketched last week. Ever since the pointe shoes I've have ballerina on the brain. I think it's interesting that sometimes ballet is associated with little frilly girls in pink tights spinning around. Really, aren't ballerina's fierce athletes? Of all of the dance classes I took when I was younger, ballet required the most discipline and strength. That's not what this painting is about, it's just interesting. Anyway, I'm excited about this painting. It still needs glazing which I'll do as soon as it's dry.

You are so right about ballerinas (and other dancers) being fierce athletes.
My daughter was an Irish Step Dancer for four years and the level of discipline and strength it takes to maintain that level of activity for a performance is unbelievable! What has always amazed me about the dancers is that their strength is so feminine and graceful, but hard as iron (and maybe tougher than a football player's) when tested. But always so very beautiful.
I love this new painting!!! It's beautiful.
I love this painting. It is absolutely beautiful.
Interesting how we do something nice for someone else (the ballerina shoes you painted) and then it turns into something nice for one's self unintentionally (your lovely painting). I like when life goes around like that.
