For the past few years I've had a show in January, which meant that in December I was working hard to get those paintings ready. I didn't enjoyed the holidays much. I even would go so far as to say I began to loathe them. There wasn't ever enough time. I wanted to make gifts for my kittens and Dan Barney and maybe even bake something... or maybe not.
So this year, with Dan's dissertation sent in for review and having had a good year as far as shows go, I decided not to have a show in January and slow down. I've been making some interesting Christmas decorations and getting my home in order. Everything is pretty clean and organized. It feels good but I do miss getting lost in paint. I always love painting, even when it's under pressure but these are the times when I don't have to but I really want to paint that I realize how important that part of my life is to me.

So, I was at the BYU today and saw your show in the library. Very nice. If I were to take one home it would definitely be "Scarlet". Anyway, have a good holiday.
I love your Dr. Seuss decorations. So much better than everything else I've seen around (giant blowup snowglobes, pink fake trees, 10 miles of ugly tinsel, etc). I hope Dan Barney did well on his dissertation!
