I could post some really great photos of our week at the beach but I think this one snapshot sums it up. I waver between skeptical and enthusiastic regarding vacations involving 19 family members in the same house for whole week. It's a dangerous and exciting combination. The thing is, the thing that makes this time different is that it's set apart from our everyday lives. How often do I get to lay in the sand with a little niece right there on my heart? It feels like little vines with tiny flowers sprout and grow between us. Those vines pull us together. In all our differences, they make us part of the same growing living thing, a family. I'm actually sitting here right now having a hard time not taking a bite out of that nieces little fat feet that are draped over my lap.

What a wonderful description of the ties that bind us together! Where were you at the beach? How fun! Best to Dan the writing man!
