About an hour and a half ago, I was standing outside talking to my brother Pete about our gardens and I said something about our piece of crap mail boxes that we've been meaning to replace and then I said something about orange spray paint.
I ran into my house to get the paint, he ran into his house to grab scissors and paper to make a stencil. Brilliant! I wonder what Dan Barney and Pete's wife, Jennie, are going to say. The passing neighbors were very enthusiastic.
I am very overdue for a garden report, I have a lot to say about that...and my award winning pumpkin. I'm actually a bit frightened of it. I'm glad it grew on Pete's side of the fence. I have no idea what we are going to do with it because even with my strongest muscles I can't even tip it a little. Scary. Cars stop on the street to look and show their children. Our postman took a picture of it. I'm finally famous!
I hope our postman isn't offended by the wasp and army guy, spray painted black, of course. I don't mean to cause him any distress, he's really quite nice. I'll have to leave him a note.
I'm delighted with my little teeny pumpkins too. Who knew that my gardening talent lies in the squash arena? I wouldn't have guessed. I'm just going to embrace it though, maybe try some exotic experiments next year. Can pumpkins be grafted like roses? I've got some serious homework to do.

The mail boxes rock. That is an amazing pumpkin, and the little pumpkins are quite adorable as well. I have a winter squash that could compete for size with that pumpkin. Maybe if we can somehow combine the genes of the giant squash and the giant pumpkin we can make a super giant squashy pumpkin. It would be the talk of all your mail carriers.
gorgeeeous! i am so fond of pumpkins and the fall season I can only dream about right now. your pics are a delight especially viewed from this dirty foreign city! i wish i could stand in your street to admire with your postman.
And why not, it wasn't hard to paint the mailboxes. We might as well paint them for every season and see as we made them into a permanent Halloween decoration we are going to have to paint them for every season! We're stuck now.
A goal for next year?

As I said - everything you touch turns art. Now you will have to come and see me at my place - where you will find a powerful reenactment of the day I fell off a fourteen foot hay stack in my barn - with red hooks in my hand. You'll have to search it if you find me - I think one of the tags was "hay." Should have been "HEY!!"
Kisses,
Kristen
Pete's wife, Jennie, LOVES the mailboxes.
Ooh, try gourds! You can make rattles out of them too!
