Each of us has that right, that possibility, to invent ourselves daily. If a person does not invent herself, she will be invented. So, to be bodacious enough to invent ourselves is wise.”

How peculiar, the idea of continual self-invention...

How realisitic is it to create one's self anew while surrounded by the impenetrable walls of anothers opinion? I say impenetrable, but precision demands clarity. Those now concreted walls were once all-together impressionable, weren't they...

Value, however, may reside in the act of self-invention...the challenge, pain, embarassment, joy...not in fruition.

To paraphrase someone infamous, "we must daily build a bridge over the abyss...not to reach what is on the other side, but so that we do not perish."

keep builidng...

Nice. I hope that you are writing and pouring your wisdom into something worthwhile.
I would, my friend, question the word "impenetrable". I would say that my opinions of others and what I assume that other's opinions of me are fluid.
I like the idea of the act of self-invention as opposed to fruition. I don't think there is fruition, just perpetual motion. For me, painting is the voice, the medium of that self-invention.
