I like hearing what artists have to say. Okay...I like hearing what artists have to say even when it's not my dad talking about me...just making that clear. I prefer to see a work first and take a fresh look at it, make whatever connections are there for just me and then learn more about it.
For me, more knowledge about an art work or artist usually helps me appreciate a piece or that person more. Sometimes I'm disappointed when I learn about another artist's life and sometimes I respect that person's work more. Either way, I take a closer look at the work.
