As of last night Dan Barney is an official doctoral candidate. I am so proud of him. It was a risky decision to quit a job that he loved to pursue his education, move his family into a foreign country and not get into debt in the mean time. Coming into the program as a 'golden boy' he had a lot expected from him, all of which he lived up to. Dan finished his coursework in a year and a half, during which he published articles, presented at conferences and taught at the university. He was still a loving dad a good friend and a wonderful husband. He faced even the most stressful times with a brave attitude. He might look a little older than when we left home but I think it looks good on him. To top it all off Dan set a new record for job offers before he even began his dissertation. Am I bragging? Ya!
