I started by sketching my idea on the gessoed panel. I used scrap from a book and interpreted the rest. I don't usually lay it in with acrylic but I did this time because I bought some gesso that soaks up the paint so the acrylic helps make a better surface to oil paint on. So far I don't like the color of the background and as soon as it sets up I'm going to change it.
