The one flaw in my one day in NYC was that it was on a Monday which means that the three art shows that I wanted to see at the Met, the Whitney and at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, were all closed. We did however manage enough time right before my car picked me up to see the Mythical Creatures show at the American Museum of Natural History. I enjoyed it ever so much, especially the part about the mermaids. I wanted to stay all day and look at stuff and draw in my sketchbook. I felt all crazy full of ideas after that show. I remembered why I love mermaids and I wanted to paint more of them and maybe make up some creatures of my own. I envisioned Henry Darger meets James Christensen images? Hmmm...

In the above photo of me my mom and my sister I think I'll add another flaw...no museums and my other sister Sari should be in that picture.

Looks like you guys have been having so much fun! And I love that first picture. Things that glow and things that sparkle will always catch my eye!

I saw an ad for the Mythical Creatures show on the subway and have been dying to see it (especially the mermaids)...how was it? There's an article in this week's New Yorker about a tapestry show at the Met that I think Dan might be interested in. I know he can't see the show but I'll send you the article, it seems right up his alley.
