Happy Birthday Bev

Yesterday we had very special guests for dinner. Michelle Littell and Bev Dolittle flew in for a quick visit and it just happened to be Bev's birthday. Dan made her one of his infamous chocolate cakes along with one of the best dinners I've had in forever. Bev made a wish with one candle. I'll have to ask her about this special wishing technique. She's been pretty lucky so whatever it is, I want to know about it.
Bev is so famous and so talented and she is super lovely to be with. That's pretty cool. I don't know if I could be as cool as she is, if I were in her shoes. Michelle is a spicy little thing who books all of the shows I do with Greenwich. I forget sometimes how nice it is that the people I work with are like family.

Remember in art school when Bev was held up as the prime example of anti-art? Now she's having Wayne Kimball hand print her lithographs and she's hanging out at your house eating chocolate cake. I guess I'll have to forgive her for that "limited edition" of 88,000 prints.

Nigel I know where to go if I need local info...good job. How are things going for you? Where are you selling. GIve me a link and I'll put it on this blog.

Let us not ask what Bev did to the art market, but what the art market did to Bev.

She's a great gal. I watched her drawing out those lithos and I was humbled by her skills.
Would you trade her places? That's a discussion we should have. So many people depended on her for income and I don't know if I could handle that pressure. Also, what if you could make tons of money but people bought your work for investment, not because they couldn't live without it?

What a lovely party!

I really enjoy throwing dinner parties. Mmm, I think it's time for another one. You're post and photo made me hungry.

4 years ago, my brothers and their wives met us at Sundance for dinner for my birthday. Your parents and Bev and her husband just happened to be eating at the grill room too. We pulled tables together, and had a lovely dinner.

When the check came, Bev paid for the whole thing. We (including my brothers) were very touched by her generosity. I should have written her a Thank You note.

Happy Birthday Bev!!

When I worked at the gallery I never advocated buying art for investment. Once, this guy chewed me out for 1/2 hour because he'd filled his Park City cabin with $30,000 worth of James Bama prints and NOTHING had increased in value. There's some kind of art-related Murphy's law that will guarantee no return on your speculation if you're into it for status/investment.

The good thing about Bev is she does her own thing. I don't think the market ever dictated her imagery. I suspect if no one had ever heard of her, she'd still be doing the same paintings. So, I guess I'd trade her places.

I'm showing at :
