Paper Petals

Is there MSG in paper flowers? We can't seems to stop. It's addictive in a soothing calm sort of way. My kittens and I went to several Dollar Stores to find tissue paper of all kinds and then got to work. Thanks (I think) to the Vistuanets for the inspiration. The flowers have facilitated some nice family time and our home is looking very colorful and Spring-ish. I might have gone a little overboard with decorating the bathroom but the other rooms are about full. Maybe I'll stop painting for a while and build an installation of tissue paper flowers. The paper flowers could be a metaphor of relationships that are paper thin and not built to last, pretty but artificial?! Maybe it should be a movie about a beautiful little girl who's handsome suitor charms her with paper flowers, but sadly because those flowers aren't real and when she cries her tears from the pure joy of being in love, those flowers disintegrate and she is left with only the stains that the wet tissue paper left behind. Then maybe in this story there could be another suitor that brings her the real thing, real flowers from who's seeds she plants and builds a beautiful garden to live, love and grow in. Oh that's so good! I don't think I really have time right now to make the movie or an installation.

My clever little kittens also created these little dwellings out of found objects and supplies. I enjoyed watching (while I was making more and more paper flowers) because when I was a little girl, this was one of my main artistic pursuits. I think the inspiration for me came from I Dream of Genie. I used to love the idea of mini, self-contained dwellings. I still do. These particular projects became much more elaborate after I had taken these photos.

Maybe that "Paper Roses" song by Marie Osmond affected you deeply on a sub-conscious level...

Now that there's a writers strike in Hollywood you can make millions off that movie idea!!! You should type it up and send it in! :-)

When I was three or four I made a paper flower for my mother. We went out to dinner and she wore it in her hair; I will never forget how proud I felt or how beautiful she looked. I think there's something to this mother-daughter paper flower thing.

Sleep? Oh that's what I'm missing. JK. I'm actually living at a nice pace right now. Most of what is happening in my life is t home right now. I want my kittens to have memories like Kate's. It feels good to be here. Tonight we made a music video for family night. We move furniture and made a set and everything. I won't post it because I'm trying to keep them under the radar. I'm going to find the song paper roses for DB. Hey Chan, YOU should be the movie writer. You'd be good.
Thanks friends.
